As I reflect on the past few weeks journeying through the ‘Advantage in Adversity’ series, I find myself returning to familiar territory, the classroom of pain. It’s a place I didn’t ask to enter, yet one that has taught me the most profound lessons of my life.
Adversity has a way of stopping us in our tracks. It questions our identity, interrupts our plans, and at times, leaves us breathless. But a transformation happens when we don’t rush out of those moments, when instead, we sit still and listen for what God might be saying through the pain.
Through this series, which features deeply personal reflections, teachings, and honest conversations, I’ve been reminded that adversity is not the end. It’s the beginning of something new, something purposeful. Every story shared, every video uploaded to the Eyum Ejiga YouTube channel, has felt like another page in a divine script God is writing through our lives.
One of the most powerful moments for me came during the session with Rev. Christie Bature. She didn’t speak from a distant place of theory but from lived experience. Her words didn’t just inspire, they stirred. They reminded me that adversity does not mean abandonment. In fact, it often signals divine attention. It is in those breaking places that God births new vision.
I remember my own breaking season. The kind that strips you bare. The kind that makes you ask, “Lord, is there any good that can come out of this?” But looking back now, I can see the thread of grace woven through every dark valley. And that’s what Advantage in Adversity is truly about, it’s about helping us see the thread when we feel unraveled.
Some of the key lessons that continue to echo in my heart from this journey include:
- Adversity is a revealer – it shows us who we are, and more importantly, who God is to us.
- There is no wasted pain – every tear, every groan has the potential to water purpose.
- Healing begins with honesty – when we name our pain, we take away its power to define us.
- Community is part of the cure – healing happens when we share our story, and this has a multiplying effect.
- God doesn’t just deliver us from pain, He delivers us through it.
If you’ve been following the series, I want to thank you for leaning in with your heart. And if you’re just joining, I encourage you to visit the YouTube channel @Eyum Ejiga and take your time through each episode. Let the stories and teachings minister to you.
You may be going through something right now that feels like the end. But I’ve come to learn that where pain resides, purpose often hides. Don’t rush out of the discomfort. There’s treasure buried there. And when you find it, may your pain become someone else’s gain.
