At some point in the year 2020, a message was circulated on social media saying that the year came infested with a virus and that the year needed to be reset. This was because the year turned out to be very turbulent and full of occurrences that we will live to remember for the rest of our lives. There were remarkable incidents like Britain leaving the European Union (Brexit), the fallout within the British royal family with Prince Harry and Megan discarding their royalties, and moving to live in another part of the world to start a new life (Megxit). And while the world was still trying to deal with all these coupled with natural disasters in different parts of the world, the coronavirus took over the scene. By the end of April, the whole world appeared to have gone into lockdown, with streets, shopping malls, airports, and any busy place you can think of becoming deserted. Many referred to 2020 as the year that changed the world or the year the world will never forget!
Thank God that we not only made it to the end of 2020, but we have been privileged to come into 2021. For those who wished for a reset of 2020 while the year was still on and felt that wish was not granted, I am happy to inform you that we now have a reset with the beginning of another brand-new year! As I mentioned in my article, ‘A Time of Refreshing,’ “Have you ever wondered what life would be like if there were no end of periods? That is to say, the month or year does not end. Life continues to be one long stretch of moving from day to day in just one continuous year or only one long day that never ends. I believe we would all have been worn out, frustrated, or even passed out by now.” Thank God that we do not live in just one continuous unending year! So, I am happy that we have stepped into a new year, and I believe you are too.
A new year is a time for new beginnings. Look at it as a reset that gives you a fresh start and so you can renew your hopes and aspirations. Moreover, God tells us in Isaiah 43:19 (NIV), “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” I encourage you to believe the Word of God, trust Him, and walk with Him in this new year. He will not only do new things in your life this year, but He will make up to you whatever you have lost in the past year(s). His word says in Joel 2:25 (NLT): The LORD says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts…”
So, take advantage of this reset and make this year count!
